L'Evaluation McKenzie

Le processus d'évaluation du patient que propose McKenzie présente les caractèristiques suivantes:

Un interrogatoire très détaillé dans lequel le thérapeute cherche en particulier à déterminer les contraintes mécaniques auxquelles le patient se soumet dans son travail et ses loisirs, et l'effet des diverses activités sur l'intensité et la topographie des symptômes.

Un examen qui comporte des Tests des Mouvements répétés, avec la recherche d'une préférence directionnelle, en étant particulièrement attentif au phénomène de centralisation de la douleur.

A l'issue de l'interrogatoire et de l'examen, les patients sont classés par syndromes cliniques, ce qui déterminera la stratégie thérapeutique.
L'examen McKenzie présente l'avantage d'avoir une bonne reproductibilité intra et inter-examinateurs, comme l'attestent les références qui suivent :
